Frequently Asked Questions

What is an IV drip?

An IV drip is a combination of fluids, amino acids, electrolytes and medications that is injected directly into the body with 100% delivery of benefits straight to the target organs. The effectiveness of an IV drip depends entirely upon what is put into it.

While IV infusions aren’t meant to be a substitute for orally taken solutions, they serve as a supplement or alternative solution to quickly restore the body to peak balance and performance.

What happens after I book an IV drip?

After booking, please complete the questionnaire you will be sent. This will be analysed by our team prior to us coming out to you. You will be fully refunded if we are unable to administer your drip for any reason after review of this questionnaire.

What should I expect from my IV drip at home?

When you receive an IV drip at home a nurse or doctor will review the reason the treatment is required and conduct a thorough review of your past medical history, allergies and they will then take some observations and if necessary examine you. This is to ensure that it’s safe to prescribe and administer a drip to you. If a nurse has undertaken this assessment it is then fed into our online medical database and a Doctor in real time analyses this information and will then prescribe you the appropriate and safe treatment for the nurse to administer. Sometimes a follow up call or visit by the Doctor is required.

Once a prescription has been formulated your treatment will be administered to you by the practitioner who will monitor you throughout.

Are IV drips safe?

Yes, IV drips are safe. There is a very small risk of an allergic reaction, just as you might be allergic to a food you haven’t tried before. Our team of doctors and nurses are trained to recognise and treat these reactions quickly and effectively.

Do IV drips hurt?

We use very small cannulas (needles), so it will feel like a sharp scratch. In the unlikely circumstance that we fail to cannulate you, a discretionary call out fee may be applicable.

Botox FAQs

What is Botox?

Botox is a naturally occurring substance derived from Botulinum Toxin Type A. It is injected into specific areas to target the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles treatment areas, through the relaxation of certain muscle groups. It is delivered using an ultra-fine needle.

Where can I receive Botox?

Botox is mostly delivered to the upper half of the face, although it can be administered to many other places, depending on the indication. There are three primary areas in the upper face where we target wrinkles; frontalis muscle, which causes forehead lines, the glabellar complex that causes lines between your eyes, and the orbicularis oculi muscle, which causes lines around your eyes. Other facial areas that we can treat are lines around the nose and mouth. We can also deliver Botox to the armpits to target excessive sweating known as hyperhidrosis.

Is Botox safe?

So, Botulinum Toxin certainly sounds scary, but its nothing to be afraid of! Botox has been safely delivered for many years and to thousands upon thousands of patients, with an excellent safety record. It works locally to produce its effect with very little systemic absorption of the medication. We don’t currently recommend the treatment for anyone that is pregnant or breastfeeding.

Botox injections do carry the risk of some side effects; these are likely to be mild and self-limiting.

These may include:

  • Pain around the injection site
  • Swelling, redness, bleeding or bruising around the injection site
  • Headache
  • Infection at the injection site, or fever and chills

There are some more serious but very rare side effects of Botox injections, which can be discussed with your practitioner at the time of consultation.

Does Botox hurt?

While there’s no getting away from the fact that Botox has to be injected, we use ultra-fine needles and are meticulous in the manner and areas that we inject. This minimises any discomfort you might feel. People often describe the sensation as like feeling a pop as the tiny needle goes through the skin.

How long does it take to work and how long does it last?

Botox takes about a week to reach full effect, although you will likely start to feel some benefit much sooner than that.

The duration of treatment varies from person to person, but we usually expect the treatment to last between three to five months; you will most likely regain some muscle function in the treated areas before you notice the reappearance of fine lines.
